Husky Tours
Meet the dogs, get to know your team and feel their excitement before setting off. Then take your place on the sled and drive your own husky team through the snowy forests of Lapland. Tours range from a few hours to multi-day adventures, giving you different ways to experience life on the trail.

Snowmobile Tours
Follow your guide through snowy forests, across frozen landscapes and into the taiga or open tundra. Depending on the tour, you might stop for lunch outdoors, enjoy coffee by the fire or continue on an overnight adventure with a stay in a traditional cabin. Snowmobile tours are a great way to travel further and experience more of the winter landscape.

Northern Lights Tours
Swedish and Finnish Lapland are among the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. How you experience them is up to you. Head out by snowmobile, travel comfortably in a snowmobile sled or join an evening husky tour. For a quieter night outdoors, some locations also offer Aurora Hideaways where you can settle in and watch the sky.

Reindeer Visits
Step into the quiet world of the reindeer and meet these remarkable animals up close. Spend time with them, learn about the traditions surrounding reindeer and discover their importance to life and Sámi culture in the North. Depending on the lodge, each visit has its own local character and way of bringing you closer to this part of northern life.

e-fatbikes
EXPLORE THE WINTER on two wheels. With wide tyres and electric assistance, e-fatbikes make snowy trails and winter landscapes a joy to explore, whether you are an experienced rider or trying one for the first time. Rent a bike and helmet from the lodge and discover snow-covered forests and peaceful surroundings at your own pace.

Crosscountry
Skiing
Try one of the classic ways to get around in the North. If cross-country skiing is new to you, start with a lesson and learn the basics before heading out. You can explore on your own or join a guided tour and enjoy some time outdoors on skis.

Snowshoeing
Snowshoes make it easy to explore the forest even when the snow is deep. Join a guided tour or set out on your own and discover the surroundings of your lodge at a slower pace. Head out in the evening and you may even find the Northern Lights waiting above the trees.

Ice Fishing
Head out onto a frozen lake or river and drill your own hole through the ice. Drop your line and see what might be swimming below — Arctic char, trout, grayling and whitefish are among the possible catches. With a little luck, you might even catch your own dinner.

Ice Buggy
Get behind the wheel and race your own ice buggy on a track built directly on the frozen river. Pick up speed, learn how the buggy handles on ice and challenge your friends to see who can master the slippery track.
Drivers must be at least 15 years old.

Ice-kart
Challenge your friends and family to a race on ice. Start with a practice lap, get a feel for the slippery track and learn how the kart handles — then it is time to race and see who crosses the finish line first.

Sauna
Sauna has a long tradition in both Finland and Sweden and remains an important part of life in the North. After a day outdoors, take time to warm up and unwind in the sauna or enjoy one of the different spa experiences across our lodges. From traditional saunas and private jacuzzis to indoor and outdoor pools and cold-water dips, each lodge offers its own way to relax.

Jacuzzi
Step outside into the warmth of an outdoor jacuzzi after a day in the North. Take time to slow down, enjoy the quiet surroundings and keep an eye on the sky — you may even catch the Northern Lights overhead.

Take time to unwind in one of our spa and relaxation areas. Depending on the lodge, facilities include saunas, jacuzzis, relaxation pools and indoor or outdoor pools, giving you plenty of ways to warm up and relax after time outdoors.

Ice Bath
Cold-water bathing has a long tradition in both Finland and Sweden, often enjoyed together with the heat of the sauna. In Finland, a winter dip through the ice is known as avanto, while in Sweden you may hear it called vinterbad. The contrast between hot and cold leaves you feeling refreshed and wide awake — step out of the sauna, take a breath and give this northern tradition a try.

Husky
Activities
You don’t need snow to spend time with our huskies. Visit the kennel and meet the dogs, head out for a walk together or, as the days grow cooler, join us for autumn training as the teams prepare for winter. Summer is also when new puppies often join the pack, so there may be a few new faces waiting to meet you.

Set off by mountain bike and explore the forests and trails around your lodge at your own pace. Follow one of our suggested routes, stop somewhere along the way and take your time in the quiet surroundings. Mountain bikes and helmets are available to rent, and you can order a packed lunch to take with you for the day.

Lights Activities
From late August, darker nights bring the Northern Lights back to the skies of Lapland, just as the landscape begins to turn into its autumn colours. Join us for an Aurora hike or spend the night in an Aurora Hideaway and experience the Northern Lights as part of your stay.

Hiking
Discover the landscapes of the Torne Valley on foot, with hiking trails through forests, along rivers and across the hills and fells of the North. Walk beneath the midnight sun in summer or experience the landscape in its autumn colours. Join a guided hike or explore the trails at your own pace.

Canoe &
Kayak
Explore the North from the water, paddling along rivers, lakes and quiet waterways surrounded by nature. If you are new to canoeing or kayaking, start on calm water near the lodge before heading out on a longer trip. Canoes, kayaks and the equipment you need are available to rent.

River
Rafting
Spend a summer day rafting along the Lainio River, one of the oldest rivers in Northern Scandinavia. Follow the river through largely uninhabited landscapes with your guide and enjoy the scenery from the water. Along the way, stop on a sandy riverbank for an outdoor lunch before continuing downstream.
This is gentle rafting rather than white-water rafting, making it an easy-going river experience that requires no previous experience.

Reindeer
Visit
Meet the reindeer up close in their natural northern surroundings and spend time with these animals in a genuine setting. Along the way, learn about reindeer herding, Sámi culture and the important role reindeer have played in life in the North for generations.

Quad
Driving
Head out on a guided quad tour along forest roads and nature trails around Pinetree Lodge. The two-seater ATVs are equipped with seatbelts and a safety cage, and your guide leads the way throughout the tour. Keep an eye out along the route — you may even spot some local wildlife.
Drivers must hold a valid car or A1 driving licence.

Fishing
With rivers and lakes all around us, fishing is a natural part of summer in the North. Cast your line from the shore or head out to the river and enjoy long fishing days under the midnight sun. Whether you are an experienced angler or trying it for the first time, fishing lessons and equipment rental are available at selected lodges.

Kangos
Kangos is a true fishing destination, surrounded by wilderness just a short distance from Pinetree Lodge. The Lainio River is known for its Baltic salmon, while no fewer than 156 lakes offer endless possibilities for lake fishing. Whether you come for the salmon or the quiet waters, there is always somewhere new to cast a line.

Midnight Sun
Activities
From mid-June to late July, the sun stays above the horizon and the summer days seem almost endless. Make the most of the light with an evening hike, a late-night paddle or a fishing trip under the midnight sun — a summer experience you can only have this far North.

Activities
Get to know the traditions and nature of the North through activities that bring you a little closer to local life. Head into the forest to pick wild berries and mushrooms, try Sámi handicrafts or carve your own kåsa, a traditional wooden cup. Activities vary between our lodges and seasons.

Sauna
Sauna is part of everyday life in the North, in both Finland and Sweden. After a day outdoors, warm up in the sauna and cool off with a dip in a nearby river or lake, or spend a long summer evening relaxing in one of our spa areas. Sitting in a outdoor jacuzzi on a summer evening is a lovely way to enjoy the midnight sun. If you're lucky in fall, you may even see the dancing northern lights appear! This activity can only be booked for private sessions, so you and your family and friends can unwind together exclusively.
