SILENCE 5 days (3-day husky, no other activities): Monday / week 51 and Sunday / week 12
The winter has arrived and the dogs are eager to pull us out into the wilderness.
We move along frozen rivers and beautiful pine tree-forests that are shimmering white. You will have your own team of 4 huskies and we travel with the dogs around 30-40 km per day depending on the group and weather conditions. The group will always stay at our special HUSKY LODGE for the whole stay. Great experiences will be shared.
After the flight to Kiruna or Kittilä airport, you will be picked up and guided along the road to Kangos, a small village 150 km north of the Arctic Circle set in the northern Torne river valley. After arrival to Kangos you will check in to your room at the resort.
After breakfast you meet the guide and get info about the tour.
We prepare the coming adventure with checking the equipment, look at maps, try out the sleds and we end the afternoon with a “husky walk” with the young dogs. Lunch will be inside at the lodge.
Day 3 (40-50 km)
First we will pack the sleds and then harness the dogs. Before we start the journey you will get instructions from the guide how to mush and take care of your own team of 4-5 dogs. Lunch will be served outside and before nightfall we will arrive at the timber cottage where we will spend the night. In one of the two cabins you will do a evening walk with snowshoe and in one you will be able to try out traditional woodsauna.
Day 4 (40-50 km)
After a good night sleep we start the day with taking care of the dogs while the guide is preparing breakfast. After feeding the dogs we all sit down, eat our breakfast and discuss the tour of the day. Then we harness the huskies and head off. The only sounds that can be heard are the breathing of the dogs and the noise of their feet on the snow. We stop after 2-3 hours and enjoy lunch out in the wild. After a while the dogs are eager to run, and we keep on mushing for 2-3 hours. The day ends with a nice home cooked meal before settling down to sleep.
Day 5 (40-50 km)
After 2 days mushing you will all feel that you get the hang of it. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We move along frozen rivers, deep forests and on shimmering white mires. We stop after a while to warm up our bodies with a nice soup, made over the fire. We end the day back at husky camp where we take care of the dogs and then enjoy a dinner and a night in the Pinetree lodge.
